Is there a census going on at the moment? Some people have told me they've had calls at the door about a census?

Can they get inside gated complexes?

If not, tens of thousands of householders do be left out of that survey. It begs the question of its accuracy.

I don't get you. Surveys are simply a sample. I'd guess gated complexes are a tiny percentage anyway.

There's not a census, but the CoCo's should be updating their register of electors.

Well, from the "Latest House Building and Private Rented Statistics" which details type of builds since 1994..
    http://www.environ.ie/en/Publications/StatisticsandRegularPublications/HousingStatistics/

185,000 apts have been built since 1994, thats hell of alot of people potentially excluded from such surveys.

Are all those gated? There would be no problem getting to an apartment with a external bell/intercom.

Most probably are gated as most apt complexes are not open to the general public. The usual code number for access would be needed. Only a tiny number of apts within a gated complex have a public access point, I lived in one on the main road before.

But if these QHS people have the same access as postmen, there might not be a problem for access at all:)

As far as I'm aware it's mainly Dublin that has complexes locked down. There's only one or two that I am aware of in Galway.

Is Dublin that bad that you have to keep the locals locked out?

Nope. Thats strange what you say about Galway. There is a gated complex in alot of small towns as well, Kilcock has one for example.

They are probably being sold as havens from Dublin - Thay are inside the Longford, Portlaoise and Gorey Commuter belt. A sort of extended Pale
