I was listening to the radio and it was very interesting, talking about nasty things you caught abroad
One girl spoke about nasty blisters she got all over her, along with other people she was with. And when she went to the doctors in Fiji, they couldn't tell her what it was.
They gave her penicillin and sent her on her way.Every time a blister burst and where the puss landed another one grewyuck.gifLuckily they found a nice new zealander who brought them to better part of fiji and they saw a better doctor.
On top of that they were told lucky was on outside if had of been inside they would have died:eek:

So any nasties happen to you or someone you know away :p

Whenever I travel anywhere I get the scuts more liquified than coffee in a blender. Great when in Turkey and you have to put your rorschach smear of a wipe in a little open bin so the place stenches up like the inside of sulphur factory.

I've traveled a fair bit all over the world and have never caught anything bad. Think the worst was sun-stroke but that wasn't that bad compared to some diseases.

My throat got bumps all over it so bad that I couldn't eat or drink, and swallowing saliva hurt so I just spat it all into a bucket..
I forget the name of it. But I got it in Wales and then again here in Ireland so its nothing exotic.

its in the islamic state of teregannu in malaysia , the country with 12 sultans. nice spot for a holiday tho ....think lost , island only accessible by boat , and the archelpago island of kota radang is a protected island which means you get off a boat about a mile out ...and swim for shore , bags and all , totally unspoilt , no electricity , stay in a wooden house on stilts , no shops etc , food is provided every day , no tacky souvinirs , the only supplies to the island sent by boat once a week .... on the downside , poisonous snakes abundant and pesky insects lizards etc , i also got bitten by a baby shark !!!! ripped the sole of my foot whilst snorkelling , very common occurence foreign holidaymakers having their piggies bitten by baby sharks , the locals think its hilarious ffs !!!

Personally I'd prefer the Sharks than the bugs.

Some people seem to attract insects though. One of the lads seems to have the same effect as a well done piece of sirloin steak on them....tics, leeches, fly bites...even had a moth in his ear once.

Never caught anything myself, but I can regale you all with a story told in person to me by a person who was my wifes employer in that there London and was a top gynecologist in a major hospital.

She told me a group of woman presented to her clinic with similar symptoms. These wimmin had all been on holiday together in some really hot country (Name Forgotten) and had all swam in the same lake. A fish or insect had decided to hitch a ride and caused <ahem> some big problems a few days later.

There is a service port on the other side of the island though with a supermarket for those not looking to recreate a scene from The Beach.

My mate got scabies when we were travelling in Budapest I think it was. Mega contagious and spread to everyone in the group apart from me (I avoided him like the plague!)

Was nasty! Literally looked like a rash was eating him alive!

No-one deserves malaria, but she is very foolish if she didn't take her anti-malarial tablets. Either that or she was extremely unluckly (typical anti-malarial Malarone is 98 per cent effective, and the two per cent is probably down to user error)
