Basicly if you lay Man United or lay Kauto Star you win if they DON'T win.

If you could back Man United at 3.0 obviously a tenner bet gives you €30 back but if you lay at 3.0 you enter how much you want to win (€10 in this case) and if Man United win you lose €30 if they win you get a tenner profit minus the commission of betfair.

this is wrong,i mean like in fairness,

if you put 10 on at 3/1 you get back 40.
if you lay man united in the case above your correct in saying you lose 30 if they win,but if they lose you win 10 - commission.

    No you are wrong.

    He said 3.0 not 3/1.

    He's right, You're wrong.

ok well at least he was wrong about 1 of the things that i pointed out,:p

thought 3.0 is the same as 3/1,never use that kind of odds as a source of betting. learn something new every day..
    thanks;)

It's just the way you say things like "this is wrong,i mean like in fairness". That's very belittling of someone, Especially when that person is correct and just mis-typed the word "win" when it should of been "lose".

    Lay Question:

If i lay say united to win at halves and the backers stake is 100.

Do I have to have 150 in my account to cover it or 50?

  • Moderators Posts: 8,755 ✭✭✭x PyRo

If I remember correctly you just need to have the liability in your account.

    YOu need the liability

Presuming halves is 1.5, if you lay 1.5 for 100, you need 50 to cover it.

You can click certain option on betfair to show your potential profit/loss on eash bet and I'd advise everyone to use them
