    Hi all,
I'm looking for a good value smartphone with WIFI and GPS, preferably a nokia (free maps).

It looks like the nokia 5800 would be perfect, - at only €179!!!!!!
But, alas, no shop or online store has them in stock anymore.

    Any suggestions?

I hear the nokia x6 is the new 5800, -is it any good?
What features are gained or lost over the 5800?

I have a flexible budget and I'm not bothered about the network.

I had a 5800, to be honest, I didn't enjoy using it at all.

    - The touchscreen isn't that responsive and makes using the web browser a pain.
    - The camera is terrible, my cheapo €100 Sony Ericsson from three years ago has a better quality camera.
    - When working off wi-fi, I found that web pages would hang when I tried to open them.

You really would be better off with a HTC.

HTC are expendsive, - if you get one with WIFI and GPS.

Is it prepay or billpay you are looking at?

If you want a budget smartphone, you could look at the HTC Wildfire.

There's a thread discussing it here, on the Android Forum.

Also, there's a link to a review by Techradar and the HTC Product Page.

Nice phone, but the crappy screen resolution puts me off.

On the 5800 the screen is 640x360, the same as the X6, the screen on the HTC is 360x240!

    Desire Resolution: 480 X 800 WVGA

I had the 5800 and liked it for the first month but after that started looking around and will be sticking with my Desire for a very long time

I don't know where I got that 360x240..... Might be the Hero...

How much does the desire cost on prepay?
