    Do you have wireless or wired broadband?

    Plug the cable coming from the router/wall if you're wired into the PS3.

    Go to options

    Scroll to the bottom to network option

    Configure from there

    you need to set up a psn account after you do the above to set up your connection

    What everyone has said is right and will get you playing online ,if that work good.
    But if that's not helping post all the detail about you internet connect, if it's over the phone line or wireless with usb or a dish/aerial on the house. and the router you have with the connection you can use if you have a wired LAN in the house or a wireless one.
