Would advise ignoring what people in sports shops tell you. Most don't know their bottoms from their other parts. I'm sure there is a specialist in Limerick....any clubs with shops attached ? Better to pick a racquet that feels comfortable to you, they are all pretty light these days. The grip size is hugely important to avoid the likes of tennis elbow etc... that is something you must get right ( and warm up properly before you play - ref the internet ). Don't spend a fortune and make sure to pick a reputable make such as Wilson, Head, Dunlop. The internet is also a good place to pick up cheap racquets as you can pick up end of line models very cheaply

There isn't anywhere in Limerick to buy a good racquet I'm afraid. You'd be much better off buying online.

Have a good read of the topics on this page and you shouldn't go far wrong:

    You could also try www.rackets.ie

I haven't dealt with them but they're located in Dublin. I sent them an email last week and they never got back to me, so I don't know if they're that reliable really.

They're Martyn Evans Sports in Fitzwilliam. I've never dealt with them on line, but frequently go in for gear and have nothing but good things to say about them. I'm surprised they didn't get back to you, but the Davis Cup was on there last week, and from past experience going in to them during such events, things were likely very hectic, so your email may have just slipped through the cracks.
To the OP, phoning Martyn Evans might be the best bet. I have looked on their website on occasion, and they have a much larger selection in store, including some 2nd hand racquets. They'll be able to give you some advice, and if they can post to you via on line sales, I'm sure they can do the same for phone sales. Just be warned, the Irish Open is coming up, so don't phone them during that as they will be rushed off their feet! Either do it soon, or wait until after the Open is finished so that they should be able to take their time with you.

Go for a "hammer" type racket. Easy learning curve and widely available. Just dont stay with it for too long.

The 88 is actually a 90 so it won't be too drastic a change;)
