Can I claim the dole?

    I am a 23 year old graduate with a MA degree. I left Ireland about 18months ago to work abroad(couldn't get a job in Ireland) I want to return to Ireland but I'm not sure how they judge who gets the dole.

    I will rent a room somewhere- I won't live with my parents and I don't take money from them- can the government still test my means by looking at my parents?

    I worked various part time jobs through Uni but have not worked in Ireland for over 18months now- will this affect my application? How long will it take to actually get some money from the government?

    I really want to move home but I am afraid to incase I can't get a job or any benefits so any information would be really appreciated.
