wheel refurb v new wheels

i am in need of new tyres very soon. the wheels on my car could do with a bit of a refurb do. one is badly marked from an impact with a kerb. was like that when i got the car. the rest only have a few light marks nothing major.. im guessing it would cost 300 to get them refurbed plus another 500 for decent tyres.
now would i be as well off to go spend the 800 on a new set of rims and tyres?? my biggest problem is i cant really find a set i like.. i like the rims on it at the moment and would like something similar. its impossible to get a set of 18 cupra r wheels in good nick with good tyres for that money. anything else similar?? max size would have to be 18s and they would need to bolt straight on. money is tight enough at the moment.. i was even thinking of getting the wheel with the damage repaired and touching up the rest of the marks myself and giving them a new coat of paint. would i be mad to try this myself??
any links on how to's or guides to refurbing and painting wheels would be good... have seen a few on youtube..
also any links to a nice set of 18s would be good as would any advice tips or opinions...
    thanks

Tyres bought for 500 quid are going to be of much better quality than tyres bought with alloy's for 800.

If you like the ones on it at the moment and can't find any others that you like then you're better off sticking to what you got.

It costs about 50 quid a wheel to get alloys refurbed and obviously doing it yourself will be cheaper.

I did refurb my own set a while ago. They were kerbed a lot and it took a day to do each. It's not difficult to do tho. Worst thing about it is having to wait for the paint to dry... I have no patience tho :(
