Renting in Galway

I'm returning to Galway (from England) in a couple of weeks. Been looking in advertiser online for accommodation, just wondering if the rent usually includes bills. Most of the ads don't mention the rent, and the ones that do rarely say if bills are included. Also, is 1 months deposit the norm? Or do some places want more than that?
    Thanks.

Bills are normally not included, if they are usually it will be stated. 1 months rent upfront for deposit is standard.

One months rent as deposit is generally the norm. Bills are rarely ever included, but things like bin charges are usually included with the rent.

The advertiser is notorious for not having rent stated - it's generally because you pay per word, so most just can't be bothered. If you're looking to be more informed about the property, I would advise to check out daft.ie; it regularly has photos posted, and you can do a pretty thorough search for properties; that being said, it doesn't have the volume that the advertiser has each week.

Why can't a free site like craigslist.org work in Ireland?
It's a a bit frustrating to have to pay to advertise and therefore find someone else to do business with (in terms of acc.)

    Daft is free.

Daft is only free for listing a shared room in a house, not a whole house/apartment.

Bills not included and 1 month rent as deposit is the norm OP.

Bin charges are included in rent AFAIK, the usage of the bins isn't. The landlord pays the council/city bin for the rental of the bins, but the tenant pays the cost by weight. If your landlord is with the council, insist on them changing to city bins as it is cheaper.

depends - both places we've lived in in Galway have had the total bin bill paid

Renting and we pay all city bin costs. Should landlord have to pay for rental of the bin?

The only rule is that there are no rules.

We're in a bag-collection area, and we pay for bags. If we have a lot left over when we eventually move out, I might negotiate with the landlord over 'em (as in ask him to buy them from me at price and sell to the next tenant).

You haven't actually said if you are looking for a house share or a place of your own.
Its extremely rare imo that if you rent on your own that you will find bills included.
Its also rare imo in house shares to find bills included but does happen sometimes. Occasionally you see things like NTL included.
But if it is a house share between say 4 people the bills are very manageable
