    It's fascist marching season!

The marching bigots are enough to contend with on their own, but now that rent-a-mob has taken to the streets, its' only going to make the situation several times worse.

    It's fascist marching season!

No marchers involved in this incident:
Ulster Unionist councillor Bob Stoker blamed republicans for Saturday night's trouble.

"Speaking to representatives from the nationalist community, it seems that a lot of people who would be associated with the dissident republican movement came across from the upper Donegall Road/St James area to attack young people in the Donegall Road area here.

"The police arrived a short time after to separate the crowds - that's when the rioting really kicked off," he said.

Sinn Fein's Briege Brownley said: "Last night some people in the area claimed they were down protecting the community basically against what they saw as a loyalist threat.

"Unfortunately this culminated then in criminal behaviour, which resulted in Kentucky Fried Chicken being damaged, cars being burnt and residents being abused.

"So what might have started off with noble intent ended up basically criminals gathering here from Divis, Ballymurphy and different places."

They attack the PSNI to protect their area from marching routes?

It's crap like this which makes me wish that the whole of the North could just be amputated and set adrift up towards the Arctic

The location of this one (along the busiest road in the city) is pretty scary

Not that parade-associated rioting is peculiar to Belfast like.
what will the Republic do for Buckfast

Buckfast often lies at the root of the problem.

I think the worst thing is here is the the fact that some people there see themselves as both british, irish and northern irish, i think the worst thing to do is go on thinking this is a healthy way to think in the long term.

There needs to be further resolution in the north a part of ireland in the united kingdom really wont work saying that i would be just as happy if they took ireland out of the title and called it northern!

Damn, I knew there'd be a downside :p I know plenty of people in Ulster and have some family there so I wouldn't really want to get rid of it or its people.. just the idiots that surface like this from time to time, from both sides of the divide

its actually right beside the motorway, the kfc is great,i don't see why people from st.james' and divis would be involved in rioting down that way,if anything they'd be heading toward grosvenor road or heading towards the shankill..something strange about the article i sense..

Why is it unhealthy to have a dual nationality? I would fully support a reunification, but certainly not to satisfy terrorists. It would have to be by mutual consent, which wouldn't necessarily boil down to how one defines their national identity.

Glasgow. The parades yesterday had the A&E departments over ran. A good bit about it in the Scottish news.

That riot last night has been brewing for weeks. Homes have been attacked and murials vandalised for the last few weeks in that area.

Deep down those rioters love marching season. They are not rioting because of the marches they are rioting because its an excuse to cause trouble.

I originally stated in my post before i edited it i would support a united ireland and id rather that but i actually wouldnt really mind if all the irishness was taken out of its titles as long as there was some sort of effort to finalize the situation as close to humanly possible. I would love there to be mutual consent in the north however i dont think thats possible even if all the past atrocities are forgiven and forgotten theres going to be people on both sides who resent the other group thinking that they think of the north as irish/english.

That postition cant go on forever and if it does theres no reason why tensions wont resurface. Its all gone on too long i lived up there for a bit and always claimed myself as exclusively irish and that really pissed people off (i didnt volunteer that information i was often asked). dual nationality/identity isnt a bad thing to have but its always going to cause tensions.

By English you mean British, presumably. But yes, I see what you are saying. But, there could easily come a time when there is an overall majority who would favour reunification (and I don't just mean in the North, this will affect the whole island of Ireland, not just the six counties). In that case, the opinnions of the majority could not be ignored.

Wish the police would be allowed to batter anyone who riots like this tbh. A couple of clubs they won't do it again.

Arrest them, send them to jail for 10 years.

Correct. Young lads chuck shite at the PSNI, get pissed, have a few fires....which of course isn't far off what some on the loyalist side do as well.

I don't think it works anywhere tbh.

It's highly unnatural for a person who has been humiliated to just accept themselves as subordinate those who humiliated them without any hard feelings. Give them half a chance to turn the tables/ make up for their humilation and they will.

Of course, some people would rather the primitive satisfaction of beating their enemies into submission than actually building a better world .

Actually if your put in a situation were a people are divided by ideals and put under extreme stress youll soon relaize how of our actions are done to apease primitive satisfaction.

Was in belfast last night for the kildare match and as we drove out from the city centre we saw smoke in the broadway area of the city, didnt realise they were full blown riots.

They really are stuck in the past up there, we were driving back last night and as we got to Banbridge the lads in the car beside us decided to stick their fingers up and shout abuse out the window. we basically laughed it off/rolled our eyes at them which made them even more pissed off......they really are pathetic.

Loads of fresh union jacks up on the lamposts along the road too for marching season.

I feel sorry for the decent people up there, to live in a city where segregation is an accepted part of life, where you cant go down certain streets, and have to see murals praising terrorists of both sides. Must be a horrible place to grow up, and as a result probably very easy to be sucked into the whole thing.
