Thought it might be an idea to start a separate photos thread, if not then please merge with pre-show discussion. Just noticed there's a 15 image limit per post.

Didn't take many pictures today. Great that the Sun came out by the time I got down at noon. When I left the house it was bucketing down on the M50. Anyway, here's what caught my eye.

That '60 El camino still not registered for the road then?
Lovely motor although the side pipes and the chrome dubs are clashing.

It wasn't just any old Mk3 Escort, it was a Ghia auto :p

Nah, I took shed loads last year until the camera battery gave up (something like 580 pics) and fair comment was made that "I didn't take any pictures of any American cars". One bloke, one battery cannot covering everything. So I decided to be lazy this year and snap the more unusual things that you don't come across so often.

I'll buy a battery and notepad next year and take a shot of everything and jot down all the details so I can describe and tag all the photos properly. I didn't leave until about 6pm, the 3G modem was working overtime....

For the record according to my Flickr stats the R12 is giving the most horn on the 'net. :pac:

Actually, on reflection I'm rather embarrassed by this faux pas, because I normally have an irrational fear of 1980 onwards stuff....and Fords too. :o

That Rover P5 Coupe in the first pictures of the post - it's a 2 door. Looks good. I'm assuming that is a custom job - I thought they only came in 4 door?

I read the card in the screen and made a note on the Flickr description. Converted in 1995.

I didnt enjoy the show this year after over hearing Judges, Judging a car on our stand.

I was nothing less than shocked.

I really question the people who judge the cars and what they actually know about judging Classic cars. There are various categories that cars are judged under world wide and they seem to have their own category in Terenure which they should make us aware off.

If they want to judge a car, it must be judged in the category that applies to the car they are judging !!

They should not put a car down based on their personal view of whats right or wrong but on the facts of the standard of the car condition based on the category the car falls under.

    comments like

"certain pipe should be steel and not copper !!! it would have marks taken of off if in the UK" this is an incorrect comment to make as it would NOT loss points as they would Judge it in the category it should be under !!

and then after looking over exterior and engine bay to say, "that car is too couped up to judge the interior" and then walk away, was so so so, well just shocking really, i was speechless.

After 10 years of attending the show, I honestly can say from what I saw and heard and from my own opinion and experance that the judging is completely at question!!

I would never want or allow my car be judged after what I saw and heard at the show about a superb car that was half judged and such incorrect comments made. I felt awful and embarrest on behalf of the owner of this pride and joy which he spent the last 3 years with a ground up rebuild.

It was just out right wrong.

After supporting the show for many years from a club point of view and a personal point of view, I would like to know how cars are judged and what categories of judging they have? and what experance the Judges have to judge a car.

A judge should be neutral and judge a car based on a categoy it falls under and the rules that apply to that category. NOT ON PERSONAL OPINION OF INCORRECT FACTS !!:(

I was a judge at the Terenure show years ago. But they day was taken up judging cars and there was very little time to see what was on display and have a chat with people etc so I said I wouldnt do it anymore.

I would have to agree with you as I was absolutely stunned at the car that won car of the show. The silver Jaguar XK120 roadster that had a lovely coat of modern silver paint but was plagued with inaccuracies and badly fitted interior trim.
Having looked over the car earlier in the day as I hadnt seen it before I couldnt believe it when I heard it announced that it had won car of the show, the people I was with at the time were also of the same opinion.
Very interesting as its a show organised by the Irish Jaguar and Daimler club!

    Hi Kevin,

I was just shocked to be honest. Did you get on to the Triumph Stand?

Could be a Bond? Could also be an AC (Petite?).

I was asked to judge at a show about 6 or 8 years ago, not Terenure, and I was surprised since I felt a deep knowledge of the details of a huge range of cars would be required.

Thats a knowledge that I didn't and still don't posses. I could do it for certain cars that I have owned and have worked on and have experience of, but I couldn't state my life that a part of a Triumph/Jag/Mini or whatever was factory correct.

There are very few folk about that could do this at concours level, so therefore judging at shows should be carried out with common sense. General the judges at Terenure in the past have got it right, but its far too easy to pick an exotic cars and place it as a winner. Its when you get down to cars that exist in sufficient numbers that therefore can be judged amongst eachother that sense should prevail.

I dont know who the judging team were, and dont care either, but in the past they have awarded some cars on our stand with prizes when it was clear to me that there were several details that were incorrect. There were similar models about to compare with, but this was not done. It was like they surveyed the field and quickly narrowed it down to 10 or so and then ignored the rest.

I spotted them at my car this year, didn't realise they were judges 'till later, but they gave it the once over and walked off with the comment that it was unroadworthy !!!
I reckon it would pass an NCT today, or if it failed it would pass it within an hour, as nothing really needs doing. The only thing I can think of, that would be obvious at a cursory glance, is its lack of headrests, so if the comment was based upon that remark then it shows their complete lack of general knowledge.

That said..........I really enjoyed the show, probably the best for years, though I still didn't see enough of it!

Definitely an AC - at least it was wearing an AC badge. I think that it is indeed a Petite:

Edit: Cartell confirms that its a Petite

Yeah, I had a peep at Cartell and it mentioned Petite.
A quick Google search mentioned a Villiers engine.
    Any more info about this?

It was on the Irish Kit Car Club stand - if you were to post a request for info on their forum I'd imagine that the owner would be only too happy to point you in the direction of some good sources. There's a lot of scrappy info on the car on the internet but I'd imagine that there's more detailed stuff too. There's probably an Invalid Carriage owners club of some sort in the UK
