I recently changed from O2 bill to 3 payg. Phone is an iPhone. When the data works its great and fast but a lot of the time it will say there is 3G reception but takes ages to start loading a page. Once it starts its v quick but it could take 5 minutes to start loading and sometimes times out. Any ideas?

Also it can take a while for the phone to regiter 3G coverage even in a 3G area.

Hi OP, moved your thread here. Hopefully you'll get a better response with the iPhone query.

Its actually a function of the i-phone, it switches back to 2G to save battery even if you have full 3G coverage, its pretty annoying. You probably didn't notice when you were on O2 as when it goes back to 2G coverage, O2 have edge which just meant the internet was slower.
Go into settings and change it back to 3G, when u get to settings and network search there will be 2 options for 3, one is their 3G setting and the other is when you are roaming on vodafone.

I have the same issue with the iPhone 3G and 3Irl. I don't really know why this happens but it seems most obvious after changes of cells, for example going from home to work.

The simple solution is to request the website on the iPhone then press refresh. This resends the request and the pages loads quickly. I find the service to be good with the odd hiccup like this easily worked around.
