I've just had an operation on my stomach and will be on a liquid diet for the next five weeks.

Can someone recommend a protein drink to me? It doesn't matter if its powder or prepackaged - it just needs to taste good! :)

I use Gold Standard whey from the supplements shop on Wexford St. Its the nicest one I've tasted so far. I have the double chocolate. Its 35 for 2lbs

Prehaps meal replacement powder would be a better option?

You can get the Gold Standard Whey a lot cheaper online, like off eBay.

Thanks folks, I'll look into the Gold Standard. I know I can pick up the drinks almost anywhere but a liquid diet is sucky enough without being stuck with some god-awful concoction!

I was thinking about that - some of the slim fast (or similar) drinks. I'm just moving from clear liquids (broths, water with some diluted juice, etc) to thicker liquids so I've a day or two to pick up something. Someone recommended Cambridge drinks but you need to contact a rep who will sell them to you directly (or maybe not, you are supposed to subscribe to their diet).

Thanks for the info though... I could do with a little double chocolate right now!!!

Stuff is great as a meal supplement! I used it when i was very sick for a few weeks and couldn't hold down solids. I think I found it in tesco's...

    Milk.

Er, unless of course you really don't want the healthy fat and carbs contained therein.
    Or are lactose intolerant.

I was advised by my doctor not to drink milk as it can cause problems. Took his advice. I mean pints of milk, not with breakfast or tea. I think he was speaking of too much milk. I used to drink lots of milk and it didn't do my stomach much good. I'm not lactose intolerant either. I did have stomach ulcers though so I think the fat in the milk was not good for me.

Far be it from me to question your doctor, but if you had peptic ulcers it was probably the acid more than the fat.

Also, your doctor advised you not to drink it.
Not everybody. If OP's doctor says not to drink it then cool.
But Milk has a lot of positives to it.
