has anyone built in west cork, i am deciding whether or not to go head and build a 3000 sq ft house which i have planning for. my budget will be tight as it involves selling my house and trying to build out of proceeds having first paid off my mortgage. has anyone used builders or contractors and direct labour self build, wondering about costs and how easy it is to hire the right sub contractors in west cork. would appreciate any feedback as this is a huge decision my family and i are trying to make.

would really appreciate advice and costings, new to boards:confused:

First off, this is a very serious commitment and will help shape your family's future. You must have no doubts. If you are going to do this it has to be with 100% commitment, otherwise it is likely to fail. You and your family need to sit down and discuss this fully, and unearth all pros and cons of your current home and your possible new one before deciding. My opinion only.
