One will have to be set as Master and the other as Slave. You might have the to set the recorder to send midi data.

You'll have to check the manual for each.

If the drum machine is set to slave - it will start playing when you hit play on the recorder in the same tempo the recorder is in.

Also you could try just having the out cable from the recorder connecting to the drum machine in. This can stop confusing information being sent by the drum machine.

The midi cable is just the control - for the audio you need separate cables.

    Cheers krd

I tried a good few settings but can't get it to work. It might be a faulty lead (I only have one midi cable) I'll pick up another on Monday.

    Thanks again.

    Faulty lead.

VS 840 set to "Midi Clock" and R-70 set to "Midi Sync" and it worked perfectly.

    Thanks again.
