    This can't be happening...

Was playing Tiger Wood PGA Tour 2011, going through the skills challenges and suddenly, blank, and the red light on the console came on. Switch it off at the back, waited and tried to switch it back on again. No joy. The console itself is a replacement from Sony which I got last August after I paid Sony Entertainments €160. Last year, it was Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2010 that busted my PS3..

So, I don't know is it the game itself that ruined the console or it's the replacement PS3.

If my 60gb failed i'd think i'd cry, so i'm sorry that yours did but who knew golf could get any worse. i don't think it was the game, games like that never push a console too hard. It just bad luck with a replacement .

Only happens if you're over par.

The OP has got me paranoid now. Playing this morning and after around an hour my speakers started crackling.
Might just leave the game alone for a few days incase there is a "fix".

As I read that PGA 2011 broke your ps3 I recalled that last year it was 2010 that broke PS3's aswell... That sucks ass man surely you will get a new one for free?

Coming from a techinical background, I dont believe in coincidences like this, are SURE its not environmental? Do you keep it by a radiator or in a particularly dusty area, or in direct sunlight, or underwater. Do you play other games as frequently as you would the golf?

just saying, its more likely to be an external factor you havent considered.

Looks like Tiger treats consoles just like his women.

Seriously though, I'd imagine it's just more bad timing/coincidence than actually having a system buster of a game.

Just to give this thread some closure...

Contacted Sony Entertainment Ireland and explained to them about my situation (with a long essay email..), they now have agreed not to charge me another €160 for a replacement, instead they will exchange the broken console (60GB) to a 160GB for a sum of €16.50, which they claim its the courier charge.

I am willing to answer any questions about contacting Sony regarding PS3 which are out of the one year retailer warranty.

    Thanks for all the replies.
