Real Madrid Team Talk/Gossip/Rumours Thread 2010/2011

I reckon this get's a new thread too, what with the José Mourinho era underway.

Canales and Di Maria have signed, Maicon could be on the way, and they will be joined by Pedro Leon.
Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Getafe for Spanish winger Pedro Leon, according to both Marca and AS.

The reports claim that Real Madrid chiefs have convinced Getafe preseint Angel Torres over a €10 million transfer fee - a sum which matches Leon's release clause.

And the move has been given a green light by Los Blancos coach Jose Mourinho who has reportedly been watching DVDs of Leon in action for Getafe last season and he was impressed with what he saw.

Leon, a Spanish under-21 international scored nine goals last term to help El Geta finish sixth and qualify for the Europa League.

Despite claims in Madrid, neither club has confirmed the move officially.

So, what will become of Sergio Ramos if Maicon signs?

He's not quite solid enough defensively to be a good long term option in the centre, in my opinion anyway.

    Surely he can't be sold?

And what kind of role will Di Maria get, is he really ready to go straight into the first team?
I haven't been fully convinced by him yet.

Neither Canales or Di Maria have impressed me in this WC.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,005 ✭✭✭CorkMan

IMO Ramos should be placed in the centre, he was solid when he played there before.

Di Maria would make a good dedicated left midfielder/winger. Kaka in the hole and Ronaldo Wing forward.

Canales was always going to struggle to impress though with him not being in the squad and all...

Its Madrid's centre mid that fascinates me the most. If you assume they're gonna play 4-2-3-1, who'll end up as the two "base" midfielders? Its safe to assume Xabi Alonso should be one, but they can certainly improve on what they already have at the club IMO.

I think they should seriously consider looking at Bastian Schweinsteiger, he's been phenomanal this season in that role but would also suit the Madrid "philosophy" in that he's outstanding going forward as well as very good defensively.

They'd be insane to go for Gerrard tbh, especially if he was being looked at to fill that particular role in the team.

I don't think that Jose has Gerrard in mind to play beside Alonso.

Having Gerrard and Kaka available would scare the living **** out of any opposition. Gerrard would also be able to provide decent cover on the right.

I think he would probably end up as an expensive squad player though?

If the front four are gonna be:

    Higuain

    Di Maria
    Kaka
    Ronaldo

I could see him and Di Maria being rotated in and out a bit with Ronaldo switching wings as required.

But would Jose play him and Kaka I wonder with just Alonso as the holding player? It seems a bit un-Jose like to me to have that many attacking players.

That Di MAria is some player! Maybe we didnt see all he can do in the WC but he has had a fantastic season with Benfica. Its Murinhos first signing!I put this together on youtube:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPXWD7UoUPM&feature=player_embedded

I can see Alonso in that def role but I can also see Sneijder coming back to Madrid. Should never have left but thats for a seperate thread!

I see him as being 1 of the 3 out a choice of 4 players that line up behind the striker. Also, Kaka didn't play too much or well last season. Gerrard has played his best football for Liverpool in Kaka's and Ronaldo's positions. Nice choices to have and start bringing them closer to barca in terms of options - just a wee bit more physical.

Alonso as the sole holding type player would be lunacy. Also doesn't really fit in with how Jose normally does things.

Cambiasso would slot in nicely beside Alonso. But does he have the necessary superstar status required?

I am sure Jose wouldn't give a damn. Think he said as much too in a press conference.

The options are endless for Jose, he must be in dreamland.

I expect Ramos to play little part for Madrid next year, mainly because they have better players in the positions he can play. Maicon, if he signs, will slot right in at RB, while Pepe should come back at CB after being out for so long alongside Albiol. LB slot could still be open though.

At the other end I expect Higuain to lead the line, Kaka just behind and Ronaldo and Di Maria on each wing, Alonso and Diarra (or Cambiasso maybe?) holding in the midfield.

I originally feared Gerrard would go there, but I think he'll stay on at LFC for another season and give at least a year under Hodgson.

IMO if Maicon signs Ramos would be perfect for centre back alongside Pepe. He played there a couple of years back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,900 ✭✭✭Eire-Dearg

Doubt Mourinho would put up with such a liability at CB after playing a very solid defensive pairing in Lucio and Samuel last year, that's if he sticks to his predominately defensive style.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,005 ✭✭✭CorkMan

Trust me, Ramos is solid at CB.

Do you think Lucio could sign for Real? I hope so. Samuel was absolute thrash a couple of years back, signed for 18 million pounds and left a season later.

I don't know, he seems quite shaky for me. Too attacking minded to play at CB.

Indeed, although he really revived his football last year. I'd love to see Lucio at Real, he's still got a few more years left in him. And a La Liga winners medal would add nicely to his collection.

Could see Madrid signing Chellini from Juve. Be a good cb with Pepe.

Canales in all likelihood wont even remain at Madrid - he will most likely be shipped back to Racing on loan for the season.

He also needs to do a lot of bulking up.

As regards Ramos he can be a liability - always good for making a mistake and usually a dead cert to pick up a couple of reds and numerous yellows over the course of a season - plenty of dirty tackles.

For them reasons alone I would keep him out of the box and remain were he is.

Real already have one hot head at CB in Pepe who I actually expect to resume his place at CB and team with Albiol thus leaving Ramos were he is at RB.

Not sure what Mourinho was thinking when he said about Ramos at CB as that will leave either Albiol or Pepe out of the team as neither is a full-back.

Coming back to Ramos he can be rather useful at times when he goes forward.

I reckon perhaps something like this:

Mourinho loves that defensive midfielder so Diarra could well be back in

    Casillas

    Pepe
    Albiol

    Arbeloa

    Ramos

    Alonso

    Granero

    Kaka

    Di Maria
    Ronaldo

    Higuain

^ Surely Jose will buy to replace both Diarra and Granero?

    Why Diarra ?

The chap was immense in the defensive midfield role when he joined - didnt seem to get along with Pellegrini mind.

All I am saying is that Mourinho likes defensive midfielders and Diarra has proven he is a top one at Real Madrid.

As for Granero they only took him back!

He had plenty og game time last season - perhaps not a star name but he can put in a shift.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

Good spot - Mourinho and his 4-3-3

Granero or Diarra to be dumped then.

VDV to come in and Alonso to take Diarra spot although thats to far back for Alonso in my opinion.

EDIT: I actually think Granero will stay and no VDV as Granero can get stuck in - pure speculation mind.

Didnt Jose get rid of Diarra when he was in charge of Chelsea?

In fairness he was young then and certainly not the top player he is today.

No doubt hes a better player now then he was 3/4 years ago, and it didnt help that he was played at right back as well by us for a few games. :pac:

Pepe played DM for Portugal, mainly due to Carvalho and Alves at CB but maybe jose sees Pepe as an option there and Ramos at CB should they get Maicon.

IMO if Mourinho should get only one midfield player it should be Essien. He has the funds, would Essien want to join him in Madrid?

Wont happen, Chelsea paid huge money for Essien and he is one of our top players. Any deal would have to be up and around 35-40 million for Roman to even entertain it and Id say Carlo would have to want to let him go as well, hes to valuable to the team so dont expect Essien to be leaving anytime soon.

They may be that, but with the money they're spending they'd want to be.
I mean come on Real Madrid are just insane. The whole concept of the Galacticos; signing the absolute best for don't care how much money, ruining the entire market in the process by the way, then fail to see that the best players don't make the best team and consistently crash out in the quarter finals for the last ten years. Plus what they consider the best aren't really what - say - Ottmar Hitzfeld and Guus Hiddink would consider to be the best, more like what 'The Sun' would consider to be the best. Like the 'corny' best if you like.

I mean it must dawn on them eventually that they're doing something wrong.

It's insane for some but for Madridstas this is what the club is about.

It's a club built on players, the best players. Not managers or anything else. It's been that way since Di Stefano and is normal there.

Ironicially enough, this years Galactico signing was the manager, in Jose. If you've been in the trophy room, you can see the why they persist like they do with players. Some might find it flawed and they may not win everything every year but they have certainly won alot.

It was touted and Madrid were interested, but he signed a new contract only 1 month ago. Apparently Mourinho was seething that Madrid didn't move for him before that. So Chelsea wouldn't even consider a bid IMO.

Well I suppose from an outside view it appears - say - different. Could be jealousy too.

In any case I actually have great sympathy for Real. Sort of a rolleyes sympathy - similar how you would feel towards that mad rocknroll lifestyle uncle who still refuses to grow up but is in his fifties by now - but still a considerable sympathy.

But they're mad all the same:rolleyes:

Usually have the inside scoop. If they sign him then who do you think they will let go or sell? Diarra, Alonso, Van Der Fart, Gago are few.

Momo Diarra and Gago for sure, also Guti is on his way. Maybe even VDV or Granero aswell but with Kakas fitness issues, they may well want to hang on to one or two. Or just buy more lads!

Diarra or Káka, Mourinho wants to keep Van Der Vart and they definitely won't sell Alonso. If A.Cole goes to Madrid I can't see them agreeing a deal without getting Kaka in return.

I think they would be crazy getting rid of Diarra, Kaka however has not worked out for them but id still give him another season. If Real decide to sell Kaka i can Man City out bidding Chelski.

Yeah but they wouldn't sell him for the money but as a make weight and no way Kaka would sign for City either. Remember City offered double what Madrid paid for him.

Ye same rumours on sport1.de yesterday and today. But the club and also Khediras agent deny the claim.

Not sure what to think of it. If he can make it at Real obviously that would be huge for him but I've yet to see a German player make it big there. For Metzelder for example it was more career damaging than anything else.

Edit: Now it says, he's been at Reals training grounds yesterday and will actually be presented officially to the public today :o. 10 million apparently was all it took. And Stuttgart now just denies that all is done and dusted, but not denying the thing as such. Schweinsteiger apparently thrown into the Real rumour mix too. :(

Yeah, I thought Bastian would be more the Real type signing but this is Joses Real(for now) so maybe we'll see more of them.

I dont think he would go to Man City either, he had the chance before but if Chelsea make an offer then Real may look to get Ashley Cole as part of a deal. It could be good business all round, just not sure how Kaka would fit in at Chelsea.

Never really had any time for Madrid, but after Barca's actions this summer surrounding Fabregas I will be cheering on Real this season. Hope they batter them.

Doubt they will sell Kaka, with other plays going he'll be the only top level AM they have really. Can see Jose sticking to his style with Lass and Alonso with Kaka in front of them.

I don't think Kaka would like England either anyway.
