I need to get mobile broadband as i cant get NTL, I hate Eircom and Wimax is meant to be bad.

I want to get prepay and am in Inchicore in Dublin.

I don't have the internet (on my phone here) to do the research, so could anyone tell me which of the packages (meteor, 3 vodaphone and 02) is the cheapest and or best? Which Modem key should i get? And any other tips before i get it.

Am a bit stuck for cash sow as thinkign of picking up a second hand modem.
Any advise would be much appreciated.

if you are going with mobile broadband i would suggest meteor as they have way less people using mobile broadband than all the other networks.you can get a 2nd hand modem at the meteor stores for 20euro i think also done a check on your area on the comreg site view and there is alot of meteor mobile masts in your area that are enabled for mobile broadband and of course if it doesnt work to well for you ,you can always return it in 7 days of purchase..they do 7.5GB download allowance for 20 euro and if you order online you can get a new modem for 20euro where as in store a new one cost 40euro..:)

Try them all, choose the one that works the best for you. No one else can answer that for you, as performance varies by location and provider.

The modem is irrelevant, they're all pretty much the same. Choose cheap. The prices and allowances are pretty much the same across all the operators.

id suggest you get a trial modem off each network as jor el said and see which one is fastest in your area..i know o2 and meteor give you time to bring back the modem if they dont work to good not sure if 3 and vodafone do trials of their service..also the modem you use wont matter it will still perform the same

Give 'em all a craic but I advise against having anything to do with O2. Am currently stuck with them till I figure out how to weasel out of my "verbal" contract.

Lousy customer service and a level of greed that'd make our Banker friends look like a club of philanthropists.
I'd recommend Meteor personally as I've found them better then the rest as regards their mobile phone service.

+1 if anything i would also recommend meteor to start with as you may have more luck with them than any other provider!!

    Cheers for the replies.

I got a lend of a 3 dongle, its grand. If i bought one of these

could i connect the dongle to it and use it all over the house and have other people in the house connected to it? Can i do the same with a meteor or O2 dongle (as i want to try them out before i settle on one). And how would this affect speeds?

Am going to go pay as you go, probably with meteor as they seem to be the cheapest and hopefully i'll get the strongest signal with them.
