    hi all

loking to build a racer and just before i go crazy buying bits and pieces am wondering how hard it would be and would it be worth the hasstle. just want the bike to cycle into work and that but would like to get the good feeling of knowing i at least helped put it together!

any tips or websites than can help or should i just stay well clear?

i have aracer at the min but its in bad need of a good service and not too sure its a great make. was thinking of just replacing the gears and brake cables and that to try make it run a b it smoother.

    Do it at Rothar - www.rothar.ie - www.tinyurl.com/rotharmap

You can use their workbenches and tools for €5 an hour and there's loads of bike mechanics around that'll tell you how to do stuff you don't know how to do. They're a community not for profit bike shop with boxes and boxes of secondhand parts. You'll prolly need to get your own racer frame, they never have those, but once you get that to the shop, everything else is cake.

That sounds really good. Does anyone know of a place that would provide a similar service in Cork? If there's a shop that would be willing to out my bike together perhaps they'd let me do it in their workshop whilst charging me the rate that they charge me for doing it themselves.
