    Hey guys.
I'm going to first yr college (hopefully) this sept in NUIG but I haven't booked any accomodations as of yet. It says on the prospectus to book as early as last Jan/Feb. Would I still be able to find decent accomodations if I only book at this time?

It depends what type of accommodation you're looking for.

Student accommodation wise: Corrib Village, Gort na Coiribe and Dunaras are still taking bookings. Cuirt na Coiribe are booked out but you may be able to put your name on a waiting list.

You should be able to get a house or digs easily enough, but I'd advise student accommodation for first year.

The NUIG site gives links and information on all types of accommodation here, and theres a good few threads on the different student residences, eg here and here :)

+1 on what QueenOfLeon said. you'll be able to get a house easy enough after the leaving. the digs list will also be up and i'd consider digs for first year.

i stayed in digs last year, and i can honestly say that it was the best place to live in first year. it was half-digs, meaning that all i had to do was cook my own evening meal, and me and my housemates had the run of the house to ourselves, the landlady lived in a seperate part of the house.

student accomodation is good for first year to get to know people. if you put your name down now, you might get a place after the CAO choices come out. there's bound to be loads of people who will cancel cos they didn't get galway.

look at the NUIG link QoL gave. if you've have any questions, just ask. :)

    Dont stay in digs.
    Jesus no.

Dunaras or Corrib Village is your best bet.

Although its not the closest, id recommend Dunaras.
Ya get away with murder. :p

can anyone tell me how to go about contacting landlords in dun? is there a list of them somewhere or do you just have to look through daft, galway advertiser, findahome etc?? Do they usually take students for september this early or should i just wait til august?

Have you not, like looked at the NUIG website, accomodation office or the like?

    Heres a link anyways, http://www.findahome.ie/colleges/NUIG/NUIG.aspx?pm=1&col=NUIG&co=7

And Dun na coiribe is private, so you will have to search daft, the Galway Advertiser and so forth.

    Good luck.
