Cross Trainer Mechanics

Hey guys, pretty sure this belongs in this forum. I've been given a busted Cross Trainer to fix, that I can keep if I'm able to. Was in pretty bad nick, but I've cleaned up the entire outside of it (took ages to get rid of some rust that was near the back but is in near perfect aesthetic nick now). Problem is, there's a belt of some sort snapped inside the machine. I've taken it apart, heres what it looks like:

Here it is from a side view, with the panel at one side taken off.

Now if you move around to the front (the right of the above photo) and peer in, this is what you see.

My knowledge of how these work is limited, but Im sure the belt belongs around the big wheel, and possible connected to something else? What that something else is I dont know, but the belt has snapped and is now wrapped around the thing (like an axle) that connects the big wheel to the outside of the Trainer (see where the white arrows are pointed).

This next picture is just me pulling one of the broken ends of the belt out, so you can see where it is wrapped around (the white arrows again):

The belt is wound up pretty tight, really hard to remove. Im sure I can get it out tomorrow, but what can I do afterwards? Is there a standard size belt for these things? I dont have any manuals or anything, so no manufacturer to contact. Im not even sure who made it, it just says Image Pro II on the outside.

Any help/info would be very much appreciated, would love to get this back running. Thanks guys.
