I have 2 little boys & now that I'll be a stay at home mum for a few years I am seriously thinking of hosting a chernobyl child/children overSummer or Christmas from now on. Does anybody have any personal experience of this?

My friend's family did it when we were in secondary school. It's a lot of work, but it's so rewarding - once you earn their trust the kids are really great, and they have the most fantastic spirit.

It helps to learn some of the language before they come, because chances are they won't have any English. That was a big stumbling block the family mentioned above had - they didn't realise that they'd mainly be communicating through mime.

If you have the time to devote to the kids and the energy to look after more than just your own two I'd definitely go for it if I were you - you won't regret it.
