I'm not up on the whole jailbreaking/unlocking thing, can I buy an Iphone in the US and be able to use it here? If so how do I go about it?

I'm on the VF network if that makes any difference.

    Thanks :)

You can only buy an iphone on a plan with AT&T in the USA, they still have full rights to the US market. Also, Apple do not sell SIM free iPhones over there either.

Right now you can buy a SIM free iPhone 3GS in the Apple store in Dublin, the SIM free iPhone 4 will be back in stock in Belfast in about 3 weeks and soon after at the Apple store in Dublin.

You'll have much less hassle if you get a SIM free phone that does not need to be jailbroken or unlocked.
