Tom Tom App Savages Power

I have the Tom Tom turn-by-turn gps app on my 3GS (running on iOS4).

On Tuesday morning I had to drive from Wicklow Town to Larne to collect a trailer from the port. When I left Wicklow by iPhone was fully charged, I had the charger plugged in for the entire journey (3 hours), and when I got to Larne my battery was down to half power.

Are all TBT gps apps this power hungry or is it just the Tom Tom version?

    Not happy

Evergreen, it's GPS. Even dedicated GPS systems chew up power. They're designed, for the most part, to be plugged in while you're driving.

How could your battery be at half power if it was plugged in for the entire journey?

Sounds more like you bought a cheap piece of crap charger, or one that is faulty. I bought a charger and dock from ebay for €10 and suffered from the same problem. I replaced it with a €15 logic3 charger bough in an O2 store and now my iPhone actually charges when using tomtom.

This is exactly why I was shocked.

Although I take Sink's point in his reply and will try out the charger he recommended.
