Renault Radio

My mate has managed to lock his radio after typing in the code incorrectly.

Its an 04 Laguna but he wants to fit another standard radio again.

My question is this: can the existing radio be unlocked and is it expensive to get a code for a similar radio available from a scrappie.

Main dealer should give it for free if you have the reg of the car it came out of (ideally you own the car).

The scrap yard said they can give the reg and chassis number but that depending who I talk to in Renault it will be anything from free to €150

I'll get him to call the dealership that sold him the car
