80s themed party

    Hey,
I'm having an 80s themed party for my 30th next weekend in my house. Have my costume almost sorted (I think...having a bit of a hair disaster), but am still trying to figure out how to make the house feel all 80s.
    My ideas so far are:
get lots of 80s sweets - wham bars, fruit salads, gobstoppers, macaroons, mint crisps...etc
    Ice cream van for desserts
Reeling in the Years 80s on a loop on silent in the background.

What I havent done yet but want to do:
get iconic 80s posters to stick on the walls. Have left it a bit late to source online and having trouble finding them in any shops in Dublin. Anyone know where I can get any good 80s poster? And what would be good posters? Thinking Madonna, Michael Jackson, Ghostbusters, Home & Away, Ferris Bueller, Kylie, etc...
Also want some 80s style decorations...preferably cheap and homemade...anyone got any suggestions?

Food is going to be a BBQ...not very 80s, but very summer, so that should be looked after, and people will bring their own drink, although I am thinking of doing jelly shots.

I am leaving the music playlist to someone else, as that would be my idea of hell.

Anyone got any more ideas on how to 80s up the place??

    Thanks :)

Wow, sounds like a great party :D

I would say some old posters would cost a fair bit just for a party. Maybe print some off instead from the net? Won't look as cool though.
Can you source some old toys to have hanging about? Care bears, transformers, cabbage patch dolls...invites on fancy paper maybe?

Oh, for decorations, pasta stuck on to paper and painted in gold/silver and potato prints! :pac:

Glow sticks from a €2 store and gold lame table cloths are very 80's. Can you still get Babycham anywhere?

Have a great party! Will you post pics of your decorations please?

"Can you still get Babycham anywhere?"

    70's I would have thought.

Leave loads of Morrison visa applications lying around!:D

No, definitely not in Nobber ;)

Went to the €2 shop and best I could get were refresher bars and glo sticks! Good start. Need to get my hands on some 80s posters next. Tried HMV and they have a rubbish selection. Could print some out I suppose, but could look really crap!

Don't forget the party games either.

Pass the parcel with some plastic crap you bought in the €2 shop.
    Musical chairs.
    Twister is a must also.

Can't think of anywhere else that sells posters really, like that shop Athena in Stephens Green, but its been gone a while now. Probably best to scrap that printing idea, it would look really crap.
But a must-have is this :pac:

There is a poster shop on the Ilac shopping centre (Henry St) which is on sales now, you can get hughe posters for as little as 2 euro. There is tons of them there so I'm pretty sure you'll find 80's themed ones no prob.
