Hi all. Did you hear anything else about the daa gr.prog.? I didnt even get that confirming email, does it mean they left me out of the game? thanks

I applied a while ago not sure of the date though, never got a confirmation email, but got an email on the 16 July to do the online assessment.

Did the online aptitude questions just there. Weren't too bad. There's a bit of reading to do. The fact that you're constantly aware of how little time you have definitely made me rush through a few questions. Overall not too bad but in saying that, I could have got loads wrong. I really don't know.

Anyone here know of anyone that would have been through the grad recruit. program in the past?

Done the online assessment as well. I thought it was tough enough time wise...fingers crossed

Another semi state pissing borrowed money away on graduates.

Thanks for the useful input

Anyways, did the test myself the other day and it's hard to know how it went, time was the biggest problem. Let's just hope they get back to us ASAP

They did mention that the next step in the process (interview) will be in August so hopefully it's sooner rather than later.

Got a PFO this morning. I'd say the online assessments really messed me up.

The best of luck to everyone.

I did the online assessment but haven't heard anything back...:( does anybody know what the graduate programme actually involves?the description I read was quite vague on the details of what the graduates would be doing...

Did you get an email or a letter? Does anyone know of anyone else who has heard back?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30 crzg

Still have not heard a word, weird, just came on at practically the same time to ask if anyone's heard??

Can someone help us out? If I don't hear anything, I'll probably have to call. I'm not in Ireland at the moment, and won't be for a week or two, so if they're sending out letters I'm kinda screwed.

Anyone hear any positive responses?

So nobody knows what the job is? They are looking for different types of graduates yet is it only one type of position? I applied as a civil engineer and had the online assessment that had nothing to do with engineering, as you all saw it was more business and finance. I dont know why they asked for different types of graduates to apply if they dont give tests related to their field...unless its all for the same position.

    Hey all,

Just stumbled across this thread and thought I'd let you know my history!

Went for the interview last year - didnt get it I'm not ashamed to admit as I really wanted the traineeship I got anyway!!!

Anyway as far as I remember I had to do the online thing too and then I got a phonecall asking me to come for an interview and then an email (or letter - sorry can't remember) confirming the same! The interview was near the airport across from the coachmans Inn pub.

I felt, having gone for the other interview for the other grad programme that the DAA interview was much more like a job interview - working as a team/individual/experience etc! However maybe if I had a degree that was more directly relevant it would have been different!

Basically they told me there was 4/5 areas of work that you rotation in cycles, getting experience in all. From what I can remember one was HR and one was logistical (most likely the wrong word for it) e.g. looking at a room and seeing whats the best way for people to enter/queue/exit etc...A lot more to it than that but the just the bits I can remember after 1 & half years!!

    Hope it helps!

Just saw this - they ask for different types because of the different sections - you get experience in all but will specialise in the one "suited" to your degree, the point being if you are kept on after the programme you will be in that sector. Although they did tell me a story of one guy who went in from a financial background and ended up doing the space planning thing discussed in the above post - excelled in it during his rotation and so was in there when he went on a permanent contract!

    Hi Noo

There is indeed very little info about the programme, but I assume that it would be centred around business logistics in one way or another - HR, service analysis, finance, strategy, perhaps a sales role... basically what I think we're looking at is general problem solving.

The reason they would be interested in you as an engineer is more the way of thinking as an engineer. Even if it's not specific to business, you are no doubt geared to finding solutions to a problem given certain constraints. You're degree might not bare any relevence to what you end up doing in a few years once you have some experience - I know someone with a degree in marine biology who became a diplomat for example!

And with regardss to interviews for grad programmes being more like job interviews - a graduate programme is hardly different to an actual job, save perhaps a bit more focus on development. They gear it towards graduates as it's a non-negotiable salary, everyone has similar experience, and without years of building up bad habits in other jobs, they can mould you into the kind of worker they want or need...

    Just my two cent............. :pac:

I rang up this morning and I was told that they are still going through applications. She also said that people will hear back in the next 2 weeks...I think they are letting us know through email.

I know someone who just heard back, they didnt get it because of their test score. Someone else here said they heard back with a no...so i guess everyone be on the lookout for rejection emails over the next few days.

Why when are the placements supposed to be starting? sorry about all the questions its just you were smart enough to ring up about it!

In the same position as a good few of you - no word back yet... I'm going to agree with the above and hope that no news is good news!

Obviously if anyone hears positive news to pop it up on here

Same as - no word, I wish they'd hurry up! I wonder have they all the negatives sent out or are they staggering the release as they work through them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 64 ✭✭MonkeyBone

Received a response from them over a week ago saying I didn't make the next phase. Pretty standard stuff they asked and I thought I did great but I hear that competition is fierce and there was a lot of applicants.

A friend of mine got a call back but he hasn't had the interview yet.

Harsh luck dude but thanks for the heads up!

Don't really want to have gotten lost in the mix, whether the news is positive or negative. I'm sure they're mad busy - spoke with one of them before I applied as I had an interview for another position, but the middleman recruiter told me about it the night before and I was in the UK, so I'm sure they're just working their way through it all!

Do you know when your mate heard back?

Hard luck mate... at least you heard back, its killing me not knowing i'd preferred to have been told no already.

Does your friend know his interview date yet?

MB - what do you mean by pretty standard stuff they asked??

As in have you been at an interview with them or did you mean what they asked for in the application/online tests?

I'm assuming they mean pretty standard stuff they asked for the online tests - if they heard the response over a week ago I'd say it's the most likely.

This is getting me a tad nervous though

Agreed but the fact MB's friend has heard positive news back is strange, I haven't heard one way or the other!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,989 ✭✭✭Noo

This is dragging out a bit too long for my liking, im constantly checking my emails but nothing. Its a kind of strange that no one posting here has heard back, its very unlikely we all made it to the next stage... and ive got a holiday coming up in september!!

Still waiting on a reply myself. i've given up hope though.

The frustration with DAA is ridiculous, over a month since doing the aptitude tests and still to hear nothing back. At this stage though if no one else has heard back all one can do is remain positive. Fed up checking boards and checking the email for a reply from DAA!!

Does anyone know how many graduate Civil Engineer positions are available or is it just the one? I can't imagine more than 2 or 3 being taken on?

Oh and if you look further up the thread theres more info on the type of position it is from someone who applied a few years ago

anyone hear back yet? I'm assuming the delay in replies is because they're trying to figure out what kind of massive wages and benefits package to offer me:rolleyes:

    My thoughts exactly!!

Seeing as those who didnt do well in the online test have already heard back i'd say the rest of us passed but they are trying to narrow down who to ask for an interview...but that would also mean they didnt look at our applications until we did the test...so why the hell did it take so long to send out the online test, if they had done it within a week or two of the application deadline we would all have been interviewed and be employed by now...with our massive wages and benefits :D
