Thought I'd set up a thread with all the great free content on the US iTunes Store. They have some great free TV Shows to download, some even in HD. Here's a pick of what they have:

    Chuck-Pilot (HD)
    The Office-Pilot (HD)
    Family Guy-Death Has A Shadow
    Psych-Pilot (HD)
    30 Rock-Pilot (HD)
    Flight of The Conchords-Pilot
    Royal Pains-Pilot (HD)
    American Dad-Pilot
    Two and a Half Men-Pilot
    Rules of Engagement-Pilot (HD)
The New Adventures of Old Christine-Pilot

Then they have some Pilots of new shows too such as:

    Huge (HD)
The Life and Times of RJ Berger (HD)
    Hot in Cleveland (HD)
    The Gates (HD)
    Hawthorne (HD)

It's easy to set up an American account, a US Credit Card or Gift Voucher isn't needed to get the freebies. Some great content their to fill your iPhones/iPods/iPad.

    Edit:List Updated.

I tried to set up an American iTunes a/c a few months ago and I couldn't even download a podcast without registering a credit card.

    Has it changed?

Yes, you now have the option to select "None" when they ask you for a payment method.

All you have to do is change the country on your iTunes to United States by clicking on the little Irish symbol on the bottom right on the iTunes Store.

Go to one of the freebie videos/App and go to purchase it. When it asks you to sign in, click on Create an Account.

Agree to the T&Cs and find a random US address on the web and use it as your billing address.

When it asks you for your payment details, click "None". And that's it.

can anyone recommend best place to buy US itunes vouchers online?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,534 ✭✭✭Dman001

I think eBay would be the best, I used to know a blog that sold them and seemed pretty legit but can't seem to find it now. If I find it Ill post it up.

Apple have loads more freebies up, they seem to be going by genres. This week is Sci-Fi. They have:

    X-Files
    Eureka
    Fringe
    Battlestar Galactica
    Heroes
    Supernatural
    Buffy
    Dr. Who
    Robin Hood
    Torchwood
    Stargate
    Star Trek

    Alot are in HD too.

I was able to sync content from my Irish and US account to the same iPod no bother.

Beardo can you give me more info, does an error message pop up?

Follow the OP's step by step guide, if it does not work keep re-entering the required info, the "none" option will appear. I have had a US account for a few months. I remember it did take me a few times to get the account to open.

I can open the account no problem and downloaded a TV show but when I went to sync it it says "Cannot Sync to this iPhone". Tried it through my Irish account too and no joy.

Yep - I've managed to sync three accounts (US, UK and Ireland) to the same 3Gs from the same PC.

This has happened to me sometimes before, if I downloaded the HD episode. If I'm just putting it on the iPhone to watch on the train or something, I usually just download the regular episode - just to be sure.

(p.s. Nice one OP for this - Watched BSG, X-Files and Two and a half men episodes on the train for the last night and this morning).
