The brother's car packed up on the way home from collecting his new motorbike  He's had a full license for the car for years but needs to get his theory test/ learner's permit for the bike sorted asap. Also, he'll have to receive specialist bike training and an insurance assessment before he can put the bike on the road which only complicates things further.

He'll need to commute on the bike now as he doesn't have the cash to fix the car after buying the bike. Oh, life!!

Any tips on expediting the process? Different centres etc.

    He's based in Cork, btw.

It shouldn't take too long to get his theory test. You can choose whichever date you want online. If his local centre doesn't have a close enough date, then he could look at other centres.

Once he passes his theory test, and applies for his LP, then he has to wait at least 6 months before sitting his motorbike test (although he can apply for it before 6 months is up). Within these 6 months, he can receive his specialist training, sort out his insurance and prepare for his test.

There is no way to speed this up.
