Hi folks, my AC adapter has stopped working. It's rating is 19.5volts - 7.7amps.
I found another Dell AC Adapter again 19.5 v output BUT 4.62 amps.

I plugged it in and my laptop's working. Is this ok long-term or do I risk damaging my laptop and/or this AC adapter???

    Thanks in advance,

    T

this one listed on ebay for a 9100 is rated at 7.7 amps. I doubt if the other one would damage the laptop, but maybe won't run it in all circumstances, like say supplying power to some USB devices AND playing/burning a DVD AND playing sound loud. Does the 4.62 amps PSU get hot ?

@bonzodog2 - Thanks for the info & link. yep, that's like the original...weighs a ton & got quiet hot.

The alternative PSU does not heat up to the same extent...

Lappie is mainly used for playing mp3's & web browsing.
