Installing "borrowed light" interior window

    Hi
I have a dark hallway, to which I cannot get a Velux or Skytube.

The house is timberframe. I am thinking of adding one or more windows above the door and along the top of the wall, to borrow light from rooms with external windows; working between the studs to avoid load issues.

I am thinking about using single layer glass blocks ..... Any thoughts anyone or experiences of same ?

Any issues with fire regulations ?
    Thanks in advance
