Here's a thought that occured to me a few minutes ago while I was out having a smoke.

I know that Toyota have the MR2, Supra, Chaser etc. but why don't they have a tuned Avensis or the like? Something to go head to head with the Mazda6 MPS?

Do they themselves (like most people) think that their run-of-the-mill cars are so boring that no one would buy tuned versions?

The reason is simple, they are not a seller.

Just thought of something else. Could they be leaving this kind of thing for the Lexus side i.e. the LFA? Come on Eric, you can't say that's not exciting!

Theres a T180 diesel Avensis saloon that was available in the UK, no supercar but VW GT TDI territory. Theres also the Toyota Alteeza with Yamaha Beams engine.

The aristo was what i was thinking of , and yes the LFA and IS-F are attempts at making toyota fun again , the australian Hilux TRD is another , its still not a wide enough bracket for my liking , toyota should be competing with the likes of mitsubishis evo and the octavia VRs , its all well and good to build 200k fun cars , but wheres the powerful value range , most other manufacturers have them : evo, focus rs, octavia vrs, panda 100hp, golf gti - all affordable sporty powerhouses , the lfa is designed for people who can consider an astin db9
