Currently have a N900, which I'm dumping for the iphone 4. Can someone please run through how I can get my contacts transferred over from my nokia to the iphone 4 when I get it??

I tried exporting them from nokia pc suite but when i went into excel to view them it was all code/text gibberish!

Have you microsoft Outlook on your pc/laptop?
Nokia suite from Nokia Phone to Outlook
Then itunes can take them from Outlook when syncing

Copy them to your SIM? I had all mine on my SIM from my Nokia and they transferred fine.

I've 700+ numbers....don't think there would be enough space.

    I'll try microsoft outlook.

I noticed when I opened my outlook file(where i've all the contact details saved) that the data is coming out like the following example on the outlook sheet?

    ,"Adrian horan","","","","","","","","","","","","088123456","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","",""

Is this normal or do I have to convert it so that its all nice and neat?

Does the file have a ".vcf" extension?

Does the file have a ".vcf" extension?

I clicked into properties on the file and got this:

Microsoft Office Excel Comma Separated Values File (.csv)

    ?

It looks like an export from Outlook's native database was done to a comma-separated values file (.csv). The commas separate fields, the pairs of quotes store field values.

Can iOS4 not access Outlook's native database directly for syncing? I haven't used iOS4 yet but I'm assuming it can as all the other releases seemed able to.

I havn't synced to iphone yet(don't have one). I just wanted to get a copy of my current contacts from N900 so that when i get ip4 i will be able to sync over.

is the csv file corrupt or anything like that?

Four of a kind, we meet again.

This is an easy one, download and install Nokia PCSuit. Next you need to connect your n900 to the pc either via cable or bluetooth.

There is an option in there which will allow you to view you contact. When you can view them there is an option to export you contacts to CSV formate.

This will generate one file which will be something like xxx.cvs

Next, log into gmail (if you dont have one, create an account) and click on contacts (bottom of the left bar) the click on import and upload the cvs file to gmail.

Then when you are syncing your phone, click on the info tab, and click sync contacts with check mark and select google contacts.

Enter your username name and password and itunes will do the rest.

If you have any problems PM me.
