So I'm trying to book a flight and it's asking me for my phone number. Grand. Put in the country code, then it asks me for an area code, so I put 0-- it's a mobile, as far as I'm aware every single Irish mobile number ever just starts with 0, or 08. And it shows my number displaying properly in the "This is the number you have submitted" thing when I set it like that. But when I hit submit, all I get is "Passenger Phone Number Area Code is required."

So what the hell is the area code, then? I have an 087 number, fairly standard if I'm not mistaken, and if it's not 0, or 087, or 353, or any of the other nonsense, wtf am I meant to put?! It's an Irish website for god's sake, shouldn't it understand this?

I don't have a landline, so.. what am I missing? Am I just being completely stupid and not seeing something blatantly obvious in my current very sleep-deprived state?

You should probably change the thread title to "feck me i'm stupid" - if you've ever rung any other country or rung ireland from abroad you'd realise that you never include the extra 0

The 'area' code for your mobile is '087' - dropping the '0' if you're including the international dialing code for Ireland before it.

    User error.

I've always put in the '0' when keying in my mobile number
The country code should be 353 Area Code 086 Local 8xxxxxx
Underneath it should say : This is the number you have submitted; 353868xxxxxx. Don't put 00 before the 353 - choose Ireland from the list and it will put in 353 correctly for you

Just tried it there and it worked.......

Well, for the people calling me stupid for double 00's, it's the only thing that worked.

    Country code = 00.
    Area code = 353.
    Phone number = 87XXXXXXX.

It shouldn't make sense, but it worked.

Also not user error, I never even attempted entering my number as 087XXXXXXX.

Mobiles don't have area codes, they have a prefix. That should be on the webpage.

If it accepts the number as you entered it, its not working properly.
