    Howdy all!

I'm no stranger to these forums, been lurking here for a few years now. If you look back, I posted a few threads regarding Kung Fu (specifically WC) in Cork, and I've found out all the info I've needed to know.

Thing is, i'm looking for something.. new? I haven't been training in anything for about 2 years and i'm after getting very unfit and somewhat round. I'm looking for something with great defense but I'd love it to keep me in shape too. I've trained in TKD + Wushu before, but TKD is not my cup of tea. Any recommendations?

Sorry for being so picky :o

Well it looks like fitness is the number one thing you are after so the normal Martial all are similar like TDK with patterns kata's focused heavily rather than endurance and fitness.

I have a black belt in TKD and have done up just before black belt in karate I think Muay Thai would be great for you.

Club I go to http://www.spartanthaiballincollig.com and http://www.siamwarriorscork.com/ are both great clubs among others in the city.

Fitness is a good part of it but I am more interested in the self defense aspects. I can do my own workouts seperately :)

Ballincollig is a bit far but I'll keep Muay Thai in mind. Cheers rom!

    Where are you located?

The boxing clinic in Frankfield has alot of different Martial arts to try

Judo/Jiu Jitsu might be worth a try?

    BJJ: http://www.bjjcork.com/
    Capoeira: http://www.capoeiracandeias.ie/Home.html
    Aikido: http://www.aikido.ie/aikidostart.htm
Apparently the Sitjaipetch Gym in Blackpool do MMA classes too

Just to give ya some more options!

I've trained with Paul Allan in Silver Springs a couple of times at seminars/courses. I would higly recommend his club from my experience.
But I'd say just find something nearby and try it out. Good Luck.
