Sleeping Habits

LOLOLOLOL I'm ready for the deluge of "When I saw the title I thought.." replies but sure anyway! I'm just wondering about peoples' sleeping habits. I tried to be all Boo Radley looking in your windows but it didn't work, mainly cos I don't have a portable ladder. :pac:

After the Leaving ended, and with all the nights out and finally having some nights to watch late night/recorded TV, my sleeping pattern is all over the gaff. Last night I tried to go to bed early...and ended up going to bed at 3am after going downstairs for "just" a glass of water. Anyway, I'm sick of waking up at dinnertime, so what works for you? You in the same boat?

Bed before 12 and up at 8. I work 9-6 every day, so it's very normal for me! I wouldn't be too much different if I weren't working though, I think getting up late is a waste of the day!

I try to go to bed early when I have work, but somehow anyways end up on this little device in front of me till all hours. Wake up around 8 most mornings though. And I never have a full nights sleep, I wake up at regular intervals :o

At the moment it's a tad haywire. Summer is full on intermittent early mornings and then mornings I can sleep in.

For Leaving Cert next year I will be in bed at a reasonable time every night.

    Stop it.

    Start getting on IRC again.

I'm working quite early these days, so it's bed by 11.30pm and up around 6.45am, which I'm used to since it wasn't much different during college. I'm not much of a sleeper anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,438 ✭✭✭frantic190

Tend to get to bed around 12/12.30 these days, but while intending to go to sleep I will probably end up listening to music or watching TV, so it ends up being 2/3am before I get to sleep, normally up at about 9 though.

It opens around the time I'm too tired to live, how unfortunate for all of you.

Ha I'm like that too lately. I used to be able to function on just 5/6 hours sleep but lately if I don't get 9 and a half minimum I feel like crap...

My sleeping habits go out the window in summer. Up around 11 (or earlier if I have an appointment etc) and then bed at around 3 (up on Boards:p) I love waking up really early though

Mine have been pretty ok recently. Before my sleep patterns used be completely messed up; I'd regularly stay awake all night and only get some sleep as morning was breaking. Then I'd lose a whole day by having to sleep. This was mostly the result of problems I was having at the time, and medication needed to fix those problems.

Thankfully, I can sleep a little better now. I still tend to stay up way too late and sleep in way too late during the summer now.

I tend to be in bed fairly early [~10pm] and I'm up for work at 8 and work from 9-7 if not a bit later every day.I tend to cruise the interwebs for varying amounts of time after that to keep me sane/strange.

Wake only for food, drink, or work (to earn money for food and drink).
    Simple yet effective!

I'm usually in bed by midnight, sometimes it takes me hours to fall asleep but others I'm knocked out within seconds. I have terrible nightmares, which I think are like the night terrors I had as a child because they're recurring, follow a pattern and are ridiculously realistic. Usually, I am up by about 9 in the morning when I don't have school, sometimes earlier, sometimes later.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,082 ✭✭✭Fringe

    Sleep at about 5am
    Wake at 2-3.

I've been doing it for a few summers now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,779 ✭✭✭A Neurotic

Tend to go to sleep between 3 and 5am, get up around 11 or 12. Not good.

Needs to change soon anyway, need to start studying.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,659 ✭✭✭unknown13

I'm similar time wise to A Neurotic for the moment. I don't know what it will be like when I start college.

For school it was: Go to bed at 12, Up at about 8.15, in school at 8.45. Worked well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,248 ✭✭✭Slow Show

It's all over the place for summer. I'd sleep anytime from 1-5 at this stage, I'd never sleep longer than 12 though and no matter what, if I need to be up I'm up. I have the useful talent of being able to function fairly well on a small amount of sleep.
Still, I haven't seen the earlier side of 9 AM this summer ... :P

And for school, I'd usually be in bed by 11, possibly with the laptop, and usually be asleep by 12, and then get up at 7.30.

    Sleep is great :D

    Sleeping habits? What sleeping habits?

Seriously though, they are f*cked this summer. Pushing at 5am and I don't feel tired. >.<

These days it's generally about 6am till 2pm. Sometimes I just don't sleep and maybe have a nap in the evening. Just depends on how I feel at the time I guess.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,321 ✭✭✭Jackobyte

    After 7, meh:/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,553 ✭✭✭soccymonster

Usually bed at 3 maybe 4 if I feel rebellious and then wake up at 12/1. Today is an exception since I've been forced out of bed by the mother.

But if it makes ye all feel better as punishment for my stupid minded late nights, my eyes are preety much bleeding right now and I cant really hear :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,686 ✭✭✭Kersmash

yeh, tonight was one of those "i'm not gonna sleep, am i?" nights.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,164 ✭✭✭Konata

Since I left college in March, my sleeping has gone to hell altogether. 5am - 11am has been the general routine for the last few months, with naps during the day >_< BUT I am starting to change it in the last few weeks :D It now looks more like 2am - 9/10am which is MUCH better plus no more naps!

    Woooooo etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,819 ✭✭✭EuropeanSon

Well, yesterday it was like 3am-9:30am, but most days it's about 1am-9am. I can't really sleep for any longer than that. On occasion I don't sleep at all.

My sleeping patter was going fine, 12/1am to 8/9am which is pretty normal. Last night tho I stayed up till 5am for some stupid reason and got up at 12. That's my sleeping pattern gone out the window.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 695 ✭✭✭Banjo Fella

My sleeping pattern is an embarrassing, jumbled mess. All structure was removed from my life once summer began, and I started getting to bed later and later, often going to sleep as the sun was rising. Everything went sort of nocturnal for a time, and eventually it got so late that things wrapped around and became normal again. For a while... now things are even worse.

So, at the moment I'm waking up sometime between 4AM-1PM, feeling fine for a bit before suddenly crashing, having an involuntary nap for an hour or two, and falling asleep between 9PM-5AM. I don't know why I do this, it must be hell on Mr. Sandman's schedule.

That's how I fixed my sleeping pattern, by going to bed later and later until I was actually in bed at 9PM. Of course now I'm finding out that nobody was even around while I was sleeping during the day. Think of all the sitting on the couch naked watching television that's been missed.

I'm somewhat of a freak in that I sometimes set an alarm to get up early even during summer when I'm not doing anything, I just really hate getting out of a sleep routine

I've gotten up at 10 or 11 the past two mornings. Wtf? It's not normal to get up this early. :P

Today I slept from 2pm to 7pm. I'm not proud.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,321 ✭✭✭Jackobyte

I went to sleep at 7.30am today and woke at 11. Not good, although I haven't been tired.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 527 ✭✭✭wayhey

I've started setting my alarm for 9 and getting up at that, no matter what time I go to bed at...which was 2am last night, probably 12/1 tonight....woo I'm such a party animal :) but I want to get into a good sleep routine for going over to Oxegen well-rested.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,059 ✭✭✭Screaminmidget

Ive been off about 2 weeks and my pattern is all over the place. go to bed between 12 and 3, get up 10-12 hours later :/

(The fact that im replying to this thread that was buried 11 pages deep is a testament to how bored I am :P )

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,248 ✭✭✭Slow Show

I'm still awake...6.45 alarm...Aaaah school is draining enough without being a zombie too. And I have after-school classes tomorrow so no bed until half six. :(

As for sleeping patterns, still in school, it's usually quite stable bed at 11/awake at 7 kinda thing with a few hours difference at weekends. I cannot wait to destroy it in summer. :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,082 ✭✭✭Pygmalion

Can't get out of a 5AM-2PM sleeping pattern.

Had a few hours work yesterday, was up at half 8 (with great difficulty), went to bed at 10 last night, somehow still didn't get up until 2PM.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,231 ✭✭✭Fad

Woke up on a floor in Meath at 7 yesterday morning, then fell back asleep for an hour or two, got home at about 3, and had a nap, and now I'm still awake.....

This sleeping business is tough :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,893 ✭✭✭Davidius

As always the best thing one can do to induce sleep is to knock yourself over the head with a blunt and heavy object.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,109 ✭✭✭QueenOfLeon

Now that I'm on holidays my sleeping pattern should ideally be, for some of the week, go to bed at 3/4/5am and get up at 1/2pm. I don't feel like I'm wasting my days cos of 4 days of the week, when I start work at either 7am or 9am...:(

The problem is changing over from my sleep in days to my work days when I just follow my usual pattern, stay up til 4 and then have to attempt to get up at 6. I love sleeping but I'm never, ever tired at a normal time so...
