Someone asked me "do you have to be in NUJ to be published in a national daily in ireland. " Said " i don't think so", am I right?

No, you don't have to be in the NUJ in most papers

In the case of some of the tabloids, you don't even have to be literate.

Numerous sports writers just put their thing in bullet points and someone at the paper will write the article for them.
