Betfair Incorrect Charges

Betfair charge a 1.5% fee on deposits made by a credit card.

I lodged 20euros to my account and was charged 30 cents. However instead of the 30cent charge being added to my 20euros lodgement it was subtracted from my lodgement. So only 19.70 was lodged to my account.

I contacted Betfair, who said that the fee was applied correctly as 1.5% on 20euros.

This fee however is being charged incorrectly.

If they charge 1.5% on 20euros (where that 20 euros is made up of, 19.70 lodgement + 0.30 fee) then I am paying a 1.5% fee on the fee!

Obviously if this is done across the board on all transactions, the double tax amounts add up.

    I should have been charged 20.30euros (20euro lodgement + 0.30 fee).

    Tony

Use a moneybookers account, it's free.

Fair enough, lodgement to Betfair with Laser is free also.

Post is more highlighting apparent systematic overcharging on lodgements

Yeah, it must make Betfair millions, but I guess they can charge what they want tbh. This wouldn't be illegal, would it?
