Im going to UCD in Sept as a mature student. I am commuting from Killenard, Laois. Cant afford to run a car by myself every day and i believe the public transport route is a nightmare. Was wondering if there was any car pooling website where I could get in contact with people who also wish to car pool to UCD?

There's a car pooling site by UCD for staff. Not sure if they also have something for students though.

Believe it or not OP I'm from Portarlington, near the Lee Rd. and I used to commute to UCD from there. There's a bus, the Silver Dawn goes by there every morning at like quarter to seven every weekday. It's pretty cheap and will take you right up to the No. 10 bus stop in UCD outside the Quinn School and leaves that spot at ten to five every evening as well.

Don't listen to any of Delta Bravo's bullshit op, sometimes he thinks he's John Wayne!

Used to get the silver dawn aswell, very handy, 6.50 one way, and I think it was around 30-35 euro for a weekly ticket

Silver Dawn still runs but lacks flexibility

From July the changes in the Dublin Bus services to Stillorgan should improve the commute from Hueston

    http://www.dublinbus.ie/en/Network-Direct/Network-Direct-Phase-1/Stillorgan/

Essentially a direct connection from Hueston to the Overpass outside UCD with a 10Min frequency all day.

Many thanks for that tip off OTniner. A bus service straight from Heuston to UCD will make a huge difference. Would never have known about that.

Oh definitely do not drive if you can get away with it - I drive from baltinglass daily and petrol costs 50-60e per week, its madness!!!
