I've just made my first ever online sale and the person wants to pay me through Paypal. I have a Paypal account but I don't know how to accept payment through it. What details do I give the person? Do I just give them my email address and they can transfer funds that way?

That's all they need. Alternately, if you have their email you can request the payment. Either way is good.

Only be careful with how you ship the item as Paypal will require tracking if the payee raises a dispute (and with it may still rule against you).

Its a risk if you dont tbh. If the buyer claims against you they win automatically if the item is not registered.

Was this sold on eBay? Paypal only offer cover for eBay purchases. If it's outside eBay, they will just close any dispute.

If it's a fraudulent transaction though, the seller (that's you) will lose out.

not true - although it used to be. They now offer the same coverage on ebay and outside of ebay for non reciept claims
