    VW Polo 00 Diesel

I have a loose part on my right drive shaft. I hit a pothole and have sinced checked it and this piece is loose. I can now slide it it between the two CV joints. I have gone through my Haynes manual and have not found a mention of it.

I would describe it as a 2cm thk, 5cm wide type washer. I think it could be some sort of centrifugal balancing weight. I have found a picture which shows it.

Any information on this would be welcome, how is it fixed and how much I would expect to pay for it to be fixed.

    Thanks

from the attachment it looks like a balance weight , are there 2 bolts going through it that would tighten it in place ? . maybe not the best idea to drive it in case it comes off completely and damages something else
