That's a long teaser trailer

Looks good anyway, David Yates has grown surprisingly confident at directing this series. Half-Blood Prince was actually a wonderfully directed film, shame it isn't the strongest of the series story wise. This shall hopefully retain that genuinely dark atmosphere.

Just please cut out that ****ing awful epilogue!

    ****en epic...

Cant wait... Yes Im now over 20 But Ill be first in line to watch it the night it comes out..

Yes he has!.. Do you believe "The Hobbit" rumours? *Freaky how Im about to turn on the fellowship of the ring..!! * lol
Yeah it looks dark, and wow the affects look great!.. The clip of the dragon and nagini attacking Harry.. wow.

And the elipogue I don't know.. They all looked 50 and Emma Watson looked 60 .. But they were 'unprofessional cameras' lol.. and lighing and editing may make it work!

Good old Hairy Pooter. I want to see this one (I've seen 3 to 6 in cinemas) but I'm kind of put off by the fact that they split it. Studio Greed means I'm prob just going to check it "elsewhere" this time. Bad move.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 607 ✭✭✭MrsMcSteamy

Ahh this looks brilliant, pity we have another 4 months to wait to see it.

Its in 3D? Hmmmm, not so sure about that.

    Trailer looks awesome though.

But the book is a massive read too. There is no way they could fit it all into one movie. Unless it was a 4 hour epic, and even then, remember the target audience is quite young, so unless you had an intermission, the second half of the movie would be ruined with kids leaving to go to the loo.

And modern cinemas arent really organized for intermissions.

The last HP film was disappointing because I thought the book was great and would make a great film but i'll def check this out. My favourite deal about 3D films is that they're 16:9 and look sumptuous on blu-ray at home :)

Any idea when part 2 is out? If it's not long i might wait to watch it back to back.

Half of it was them sitting in a tent fighting with each other which is why I'm not so sure about them doing 2 movies, the material could be spread very thin.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 398 ✭✭Anakin.S

I think they were very smart not talking about the number of horcruxes in the last movie, it means they can cut out most of the tent arguements
    and go
Wedding being attacked, cafe fight with death eaters, grimold place to find out about RAB, ministry, on the run, Ron & Harry falling out, Godricks hollow, sliver doe/horcrux, malfoy manor, shell cottage, gringotts and the battle of hoggwarts

I'm hoping the battle of hogwarts lasts for at least half of part two

It's an excellent trailer, but I'm not expecting much from either of these films. The strength of the material will probably carry them though, as it did the last few.

And I hate this 2 part bullsh*t. There's absolutely no need for it. A film is not a book. A proper adaptation shouldn't be afraid to cut, change, or re-imagine things if it makes for a better film.

Indeed they should have done it like Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.

Me too. In the book, the battle of Hogwarts was the most epic read I have ever read. There were parts where I was almost in tears.

Anakin S and I are hoping the battle of hogwarts to take up about half the second film. If they were to do it all in one movie, the batlle of Hogwarts would probably be cut to about 20 minutes, if even that. I think you will find, even cutting large chunks of the book out, there is still a lot that goes on, and to put all the main parts into one movie would make the movie seem rushed.

Besides, whats the problem with their being a second movie? Its a whole other movie to watch? Surely a good thing right? Would you have preferred the Star Wars trilogy was one movie? I dont. I wish it was about 5.

I was grown up already when I read them and I still loved them.

Looking forward to this but it wasn't filmed in 3D, so I'll watch it in boring old 2D instead.

TOO excited about this! Actually get goosebumps everytime I watch the trailer! Looks fantastic!
Still worried about where they stop Part 1 and how they go into Part 2 ("previously on Harry Potter"...:p) but we'll see.
    November is too far away...

i agrre about the battles scenes.it has to be something epic and something to remember the whole climax of harry potter.it cant be shortened down to one film because then the battle scenes will be pure rubbish and so short. i say it will be epic and great to watch but i say something inside of me will cry seing hogwarts being torn apart haha

Absolute nonsence, the fact is with films 4 - 6 they left LOADS AND LOADS of things out making the films rubbish compared to the books, I'm optimistic about film 7 as theirs a few things left out of books 5 and 6 that they can put in, doing it in two films is the ONLY only they could do justice to the epic finale

No, he should have though lol. He dies but then comes back to life [due to the fact he's a Horcrux]

A film is not a book. The books will always be there, but the films should focus on being good films. I don't see how splitting the film in half for the sake of a 1 hour CGI-fest in the second film is going to benefit the story.

What people seem to forget that a film based on a book is an adaptation and as such should strive to forge its own identity junking unnecessary elements and creating entirely new ones in order to offer the best possible viewing experiences.

The worst adaptations are the ones which simply turn the book into a picture book, Blood Work being a recent enough example of a good book making a terrible film due to it utilising every line of dialogue and scene in the book and creating nothing new. For a great adaptation look no further than the Lord of the Rings. It removed numerous unnecessary elements of the story and created new material to form a truly breathtaking endeavour.

They do a matrix on it. He dies and then ends up in limbo, which looks astonishingly like Kings Cross Station, and then he returns to life, and goes on to live and grow up and marry the ginger chick.

looks like a good way to split the two parts of deathly hollows, I would of guessed stopping at the snatchers but this sounds better to me

Read the writing at the end of the clip. "Presented in 3D" or somethng along those lines.

I won't be watching it in 3D myself.

yeah Avatar worked because it was actually filmed in 3d, not just converted like Clash of the Titans - which looked terrible because of it. Looked like a pop up book and was hard to watch in the action scenes. Deathly Hallows was going to be the same, so this is great :)

    Huzzah, death to post-production 3D!

I still hope they can carry on the high standard of the last film, it was extremely confidently directed. Shame the first half of Deathly Hallows isn't the strongest part of the story (the old hiding out in woods stuff).

Hermione : "Hey! She's only interested in you because she thinks you're the Chosen One."

Harry : "But I am the Chosen One"

:p . . . Only just watched the latest one which I really enjoyed. Glad purely by luck I don't have long to wait for the next installment.

Watson, as ever, is the star

haha, she is a TERRIBLE actress. The definition of over-acting, and has been the main thing I cant stand about the films

have read a few reviews, all very mixed.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,905 ✭✭✭✭Handsome Bob

Watson the star? For me it's Grint (just out of the young actors of course).

I suppose this was always going to be a potential problem when you're making two films out of 1 book.

Another example of milking a franchise for all its worth by splitting the final book into two films. There hasn't been a good Harry Potter movie since Chamber of Secrets IMO. But it looks like I'm going to be dragged along to watch this anyway, so I'd better get caught up (still haven't seen Half-Blood Prince).

Completely agree! People think the opposite but I think the first two are the best (despite the dreadful acting) They're the truest to the books and I much prefer the sets in those two. I love the books so I go to the films just to see them brought to life.

    That's a ridiculous statement!

Say what you want about some franchises (** cough ** 'Twilight'), the Harry Potter films have remained incredibly consistent, mainly thanks to the various directors hired and increasing darkness (and adult-geared) of the material as the movies go by.

Not many franchises can get to their seventh movie, and remain interesting.
