Wordpress as a cms

    I am trying to figure out how to be able to use wordpress to build a custom website so that it doesnt just look like a blog but is a cms

    an example of what I want to have,

    is a site that has the pages, home, services, portfolio and contact as opposed to being a wordpress blogsite.

    Has anyone got any good link to a tutorial or advice.
