Buy iphone 3gs second hand or wait for new iPhone 4

Think I want to make the switch over to iPhone. Have an ipod touch at the moment and like what I can do with it, would be nice to keep that on the go and get rid of both my current phone and ipod.

Anyway, I think I should go with a 2nd hand 3gs for now and then upgrade once the kinks are ironed out (I've read a bit about the antenna and screen colours being slightly off...)

I suggest getting a 2nd hand phone because I want to use it on Meteor bill pay lite. I'm predominantly in Dublin so Meteor coverage works fine for me.

Is there any reasons any of you can suggest to me to suggest waiting for iPhone 4? I know I'd have to get it on contract (won't have the cash to stump up for sim free/payg)

Anyway any thoughts or suggestions appreciated...

afaik, arent those problems fixed by a software update?

if so, whats the point in buying a 3gs and then buying another a while later, you should just get iPhone 4 now and be done with it, off course that's if ya can afford it off course.

In the same boat OP. I just bought a 3Gs second hand to replace my N900. Selling the N900 for the same price I bought the iPhone, so its pretty much a swap. My reasoning behind this is that the 3Gs will hold its value better than the nokia, and I hope to get the iPhone 4 in a few months when it wont involve calling to o2 and vodafone on a daily basis for a few months!

For me the only upgrade the 4 has over the 3Gs is the screen res and a little faster. I never really use a phone camera.

AFAIK, the screen blotches sort themselves after a day or two usage, and the issue with signal is supposedly being fixed with a 4.0.1 firmware upgrade due very soon.

Another reason to wait too is to see what other networks will be offering. Three have said they are getting it, and you never know, Meteor may pick it up at some stage.

covered my sony ericsson the other night and that loses reception so i think their making more out of it just because its the new hyped up phone. i am in the same boat but i am going to hang on due to improved battery, in saying that i am sure a 64 gb will be out next year

    imo you won't really need a 64 gig anyway, i had a 32 3gs and i was even half considering getting a 16 gig iPhone as it's cheaper :D

and the sony ericson had the same issue? if so, then it's clearly a witchhunt led by all those anti apple people out there to make the iPhone look bad me thinks :D

I'd wait, when it comes out I'm switching to bill pay and selling on my 16g gen 2.

My 32gb is Full. Mainly with music. I have had iPods for years. And with hd video recording on the 4. It will fill up quicker. This is my dilemma for getting the iPhone 4. I really need a 64gb one.

Is it not possible to move video off the phone to a laptop or external hard drive or something?
