    Hello,
What would I use to clean out an old steel diesel tank?

There is some diesel left in the bottom of it but i just want to get the dirt out before filling it up as it hasnt been used in years!

There is no rust in the inside so it seems to be in ok condition.

    Thanks.

We had an old diesel tank made from steel plates a few years back. I was getting rid of it so drained the last of it out through a filter and filled the tractor....big mistake. The tractor was cutting out for weeks after.
A tiny bit of water or rust will play havoc with a diesel engine.

    Just to warn you!:D

depends really how much diesel is the end but if its only a small drop id open the plug underneath on the oposite side to the tap and maybe give the sediment a little stir in the bit of diesel thats in it so it flows better use a clean stainless steel pipe if you have one or any other length of material that wont dirty the tank then collect the diesel that flows out and keep it for washing hands after painting or washing parts in DONT PUT IT IN A TRACTOR we had a case where the supplier had dirty diesel and we had warning lights and things beeping in the cab of the tractor night mare to put right if you have a modern traactor concider putting a filter on the tap once youve washed it it can save a lot of hassle the older tractors are better able to take the dirty stuff to a point the new injector on some tractor give trouble if any dirt gets in them
