I have a planning decision due for a minor school job in the coming weeks. Fire cert application gone in. Are there any issues with sending in this '7 day notice' & starting work prior to the fire cert coming through?
Also, small schools are exempt from most local authority fees, Are they also exempt from the €250 fee that accompanies the 7 day notice? Coudnt find anything specific on it. Also, Mayo co co dont seem to have a template of this notice available although I have the document from the building control regulations.

From my experience of the 7 day notice, the 7 day notice is effectively part of the fire cert application along with the associated Statutory Declaration, if one wants to start works before the grant of a fire cert.

That's my understanding too. Jobs like that are the reason the 7 day notice was introduced in the first place.

Ok, so I held the fire cert that was going in today. Im not so sure that the 7 day notice has to go with the fire cert appication as the 7 day notice form has questions such as date of application for fire cert & ref no. etc on it. Will check with building control guy tomorrow though.

you can put the two in together (just mention that you are awaiting the fire cert number) you wouldn't get your fire cert validated without the 7 day notice form (learnt the hard way)

Mick give the fire station a ring and talk to the fire officer, I had a retention one in mayo earlier in the year and they wanted it put in as a normal as they hadn't been trained up at that stage, so check they may not want to deal with seven day notices, just because its in the building regulations dons't mean its going to happen in Mayo!!:D

I spoke to a fire officer yesterday. He advised to send both fire cert application & 7 day notice (He seemed quite familiar with it anyway) in together as soon as final grant of planning comes through.

I had intended on getting the fire cert in now as Im pretty happy due to the simplicity of the build that there will be no changes due to planning conditions. I then planned on sending in the 7 day notice after grant of permission. This way the fire cert would come through sooner.

I guess I will go the route I was advised by the fire officer though.
