    Hi all,
I am in desperate need to test out my sony A100 with a suitable lens as I am not sure IF it is functioning properly.
I have no lens at the moment and I would rather not have to buy one simply to test it.
Basically when a lens is not attached you canoot shoot unless you change an option in the settings...BUT I cannot get to the settings to change the said option, I cant even get into the playback function.

Basically, Im not sure if the left side buttons (and function ring at the top left) are working at all or If they simply dont work when a lens is not present.

I would really appreciate any sony user to be able to meet up with me for a few minutes to let me put the lens on the camera and see if I can access the rest of the settings etc...
It really wont take more then a minute of your time.

Im in Greystones but If someone can meet close by I would really appreciate it quickly as the ebay seller seems to be quite unhelpful and Ill need to test so I can return it or keep it.

    Thanks in advance!

I'm in navan, if you can travel you can test your cam out with my lenses, and have a look at my faulty lens while you're at it [for free of course :P ]

Thanks all for your kind offers.

I actually got it sorted without the use of a lens the day I was going to meet ant_moore123 and its behaving nicely.

    Thank you again!

Glad you got it sorted. If you need to try any lenese in the future, give me a holler, I'm just down the road and have a few Minolta/Sigma and one Sony Lens all of which I use on my A550 and A100.

Thank you very much! I might take you up on that offer as I would love to try out the sony system but have yet to actually take a photo with a lens on the camera and Im undecided as of yet if I want to invest in sony lenses as well as my Canon and also now Nikon :S

    Cheers :)

Sorry, no, I'm keeping what I have and now on the look out for a nice fast prime 50mm.

I have the Minolta f/1.7 50mm. Lovely little lens. Have seen them on ebay for around the €100 mark. Just make sure it's the AF one, seen loads of old non-digital ones, also steer clear of ones with 'Rokkor' in the name.

Rokkor made some damn fine lenses for Minolta MD mount cameras. I have some really nice Rokkor manual focus stuff. I'm actually trying to decide whether to sell my manual focus kit or get an adaptor to let me use the lenses on my Sonys.

Maybe I read wrong somewhere, but I was sure the Rokkor ones didn't fit Alphas without an adapter and they're not AF? If you don't mind that, then you'd get a Rokkor 50mm for a lot less.

No you are right, the Rokkors need an adaptor to fit the Sony bodies alright and they are manual focus.
