Where are you going that you can't sign on? Should probably tell the welfare office that you can't sign on. Not sure what will happen, might have to sign on every week to be honest.

Ring and explain. They will understand and it should be no problem unless you get a Nazi!!!

All you have to do is to call into your social welfare office and say you missed the sign on day . My friend done it last week.
They just get you to sign your card .
You have to do it within a week i think

Not necessarily. Why worry somebody unnecessarily if you are not sure what will happen?

OP go in to your office as soon as possible and explain. They will get you to sign on then and ask you to remember in future.

If you are going away, the normal situation is to go in before you head away to tell them you will be away for your signing day and wish to be excused. You will have to fill out a holiday form, and call in again when you are back to let them know you are back.

Depends really, doesn't it? Has he missed a day before? Depends on the mood of the "person" that he will be dealing with that day. Depends on the office etc etc. Why not tell them prior to going away? If it's an emergency then it's more than likely fine, but you wouldn't know with the welfare office. Nobody is certain of the future. Saying i'm not sure what will happen is fine, as there are different things that may happen, nothing might happen or he may have to sign on every week.

Tell them, it depends how long you are going for?

If it is a day or two should be no problem.

As always honesty is best policy ;)

My signing day is tomorrow, I went into them yesterday to explain that my mam is having surgery tomorrow in Dublin (I am living in the midlands) and that I wouldn't be around - they never marked it or anything just told me to come in whenever I was back - i was just trying to cover myself but they didn't seem too bothered.
