I checked out Planet Parade in the Roisin Dubh last Thursday and they were very good.

Local band C!ties from Ennis are a bit too good for their age (3 members are about 18, I think). They play electronic, instrumental kind of music - kind of like Battles.

You can listen/download their EP for free from: http://cities.bandcamp.com/

    Well worth a listen

Absolutely. I'd heard the name quite a bit recently and just happened to pass Tower as they were about to start. Really great.

The Ambience Affair are currently recording their album, looking forward to hearing it. They're one of my favourite bands in this country to watch live. Captivating! http://www.myspace.com/theambienceaffair

I saw them a while back and wasn't that impressed by the music, but they certainly were entertaining. A natural live act I think.

    +1 for The Ambience Affair!

They've been sitting in our top friends list on MySpace for a year.... great band... (though I wish your man would just shave his head... very very distracting)

    and +1 for Nouveaunoise...

I really hope they can tap into that Flying Lotus market, as they're really good.

Saw them for a third time last weekend. They're signed to Universal now though so not really in the little leagues anymore.

My favourites of the small boys would be Ambience Affair, BATS, & The Hot Sprockets.

Must check out the rest of the bands on this thread. I'll unfairly judge them on their most listened to song. :)

Here's one from BATS that's a must listen to:

I agree with you on Ambience Affair.

I do NOT like that BATS song at all. god, it's just an intro to a song... IMO IMO IMO.

Also not hugely into O Emperor, they're grand I guess, but it's pretty bland.

Yeah, O Emperor are all right, inoffensive, but pretty bland. Like much of the Fleet Foxes' coattails brigade (Little Green Cars too, sorry) it just sounds like music for hotel lobbies and lifts.

I like O Emperor. I've seen them a few times in the Academy and they have some good songs. I enjoy their use of slide guitar.

I like the Dirty 9s as well. Some really up beat and cheerful songs mixed in with some darker, moodier stuff.

Never quite warmed to the Dirty 9's - although I like that telephone directory video they did.

Futures Apart is pretty cool -thesinger.

Planet Parade is even a bit better, but

both of those bands are pretty darn derivative...

Futures Apart = bloc party (who I like)
Planet Parade = vampire weekend+bloc party (ditto)

    Nothing wrong with influences, but...

They both have New Wave influences but you could pretty much accuse any band to be derivative nowadays but judging on both bands material i think they are great prospects

I notice that most of the bands mentioned are mainly Dublin bands, I want people's brutal honest opinion of this band, they play out of Kerry, they're called Hot Tramp

They're songs are on the page

They have a lot of nice photos and seem to be doing well for themselves... don't particularly like the singers voice, at points, but she's ok.

The recordings are ok... not amazing.

It's pretty cool I guess. Not hugely catchy or anything, but that's cool I guess... I imagine they're fun live...

I would say if they had some better recordings and did more work on the vocals they could be pretty good. They should prolly get a producer to help them build a bigger sound.

    IMO IMO IMO IMO

    Here's a MUCH better link:

Her voice in "Fire" reminds me of Beth Ditto from The Gossip at points. Completely different on "The City" though which is the weaker of the two songs.
