    Hi all,

Is anyone aware of any changes to the email setup for eircom.net email. Up until Friday I have been able to send and receive eircom.net emails on my iphone over 3G, when I try to send now all I get is :

"A copy has been placed in your outbox. The recipient "%@" was rejected by the server because the user is unkown.

I have eircom broadband at home and when the phone is connected to wifi I can send emails without any problems on the iphone. Problem just seems to be related to 3G connection.

    Anyone else noticed this ?

    Thanks!

This is a problem with Eircom. In layman's terms: when an email service (like GMail, for example) gets an email from another email service (like Hotmail, eircom, etc) it checks to see how secure the service is, not just the contents of the email. Eircom's security is absolutely pitiful and lately emails sent from an Eircom account (esp on mobile devices) are just not being accepted by GMail or Yahoo. I don't know about Hotmail or other services.

My recommendation is to get a GMail account, though others on here may (perfectly fairly) recommend other email services.

Also, I can't say too much, but your eircom account may not exist within 9 months, so it's worth switching away anyway. Sorry, I know it's a pain.

Thanks for that banquo. Will give Gmail a try. If I understand things correctly I can set that account up in outlook also.
